The free Windows 10 upgrade is a full version of Windows (not a trial or introductory version) and is available only until Friday, July 29th, 2016 for machines with Windows 7 and 8 operating systems. Once you upgrade, you’ll have a license to use Windows 10 on that device. We know not everyone wants to upgrade to Windows 10 right now, and that’s OK. But one day you might have to, and you don’t want to have to pay $119 for it! By upgrading a computer now and then rolling back to Windows 7 or 8, you’ll get to keep your original version of Windows, but “reserve” that free Windows 10 license for your PC.
Microsoft has stated that Windows 10 could be the last version of Windows. Instead of a new, big Microsoft OS release every few years as in the past, there will be regular improvements and scheduled updates to Windows 10. Microsoft’s approach to these updates will likely be how the browser Google Chrome is updated. This basically creates Microsoft Windows 10 as a service- which most software is now becoming.
The free upgrade offer isn’t available for devices running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Enterprise editions of Windows.
Computer Experts technicians are able to evaluate your device, make sure you have everything you need to upgrade, and take you through all of the new features of Windows 10. Before upgrading, please give us a call. We can let you know if your computer qualifies, or schedule a service call for your office to upgrade!
